Back on the Mainland!
Whelp, I’m back! Left the seabird island yesterday and hardly had a chance to wave goodbye as the USFWS boat motored us eastward before the rocky island was swallowed by thick, ravenous fog.

I was sad to leave but when the Maine coastline came into view, my heart suddenly jumped. The sight of trees, even just after seeing none for two weeks, always fills me with massive joy after coming off the rocky slab. And to once again hear their leaves whisper in the breeze is immediately noticeable and appreciated.

So while I was out there I had the exciting opportunity to do a live chat on the explore.org cameras, explaining what we do on Seal Island and delving a bit into why Project Puffin is there in the first place. I answer viewers’ questions about what they see on the puffin cameras placed throughout the puffin colony and, of course the puffin burrow cam where everyone’s saw this year’s puffling, little Conrad, grow up.
So here’s the YouTube video of my ‘live’ chat with the beautiful island backdrop and the occasional bird flying by to distract me.
Please enjoy my “live TV” debut!
